What is Lycana?
Lycana is an iOS health companion app designed specifically for people living with lupus (SLE). It helps you track medications, symptoms, lab results, and flare risk with personalized pattern tracking and Luna, your friendly companion.
Is Lycana a medical device?
No. Lycana is a health tracking and informational tool. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. Always consult your rheumatologist or healthcare provider for medical decisions.
How does Lycana protect my health data?
Your health data never leaves your device. Everything — medications, symptoms, lab results, HealthKit data, and your personalized ML model — is stored locally and encrypted using the iOS Keychain (Apple's most secure storage). Lycana has no servers, no cloud sync, and no accounts. Nothing ever leaves your device. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Lycana has no accounts, no login, and no sign-up. Everything runs entirely on your device with no server connection needed. Just download and start using it.
What data does Lycana read from Apple Health?
With your permission, Lycana reads heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), sleep analysis, step count, blood oxygen, and skin temperature. This data is used for on-device flare risk predictions and never leaves your device. Lycana has no servers to send data to.
How does the flare risk prediction work?
Lycana builds a personalized model directly on your device using your symptom logs, wearable data, lab trends, and daily patterns. When we check in about a past prediction, your feedback — whether you had a flare or were okay — directly improves the model. The more you use it and share how things turned out, the better it learns your unique patterns. It's an informational tool to help you spot potential changes early — not a medical diagnosis.
Who is Luna?
Luna is Lycana's friendly on-device companion, powered by Apple Foundation Models running directly on your iPhone's Neural Engine. Luna can help you plan meals, offer encouragement, and keep you company on tough days. Your conversations with Luna never leave your device. Luna doesn't give medical advice — she's here to support you.
Why does Lycana need my location?
Location is used solely to provide UV index awareness and local weather data, which Lycana factors into your daily patterns. You can also set a manual location instead.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Go to Settings > Data & Privacy > Export Data to export your health records. You can also delete all data at any time using the Delete All Data option in Settings.
Is Lycana free?
Lycana is currently free to use. We may introduce optional premium features in the future, but core health tracking will always remain free.
