These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Lycana mobile application ("Lycana," "the app," "we," or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using Lycana, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. Medical Disclaimer

Lycana is NOT a medical device and is NOT a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

  • Lycana is a personal health tracking and informational tool designed to help you organize and monitor your lupus-related health data
  • The app does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition
  • Flare risk scores, symptom insights, and health suggestions are informational only and should not be used as the basis for medical decisions
  • Always consult your rheumatologist or healthcare provider before making changes to your medications, treatment plan, or health routine
  • In case of a medical emergency, call your local emergency number immediately

2. AI Features Disclaimer

Lycana includes AI-powered features ("Luna") that provide health information, meal suggestions, and general wellness guidance. These AI features:

  • Generate responses based on general knowledge, not your specific medical history
  • May occasionally provide inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Are not a replacement for professional medical advice
  • Should not be relied upon for medication interactions, dosing decisions, or emergency situations

You acknowledge that AI-generated content is provided "as is" and you use it at your own discretion.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Lycana. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. The app is designed for individuals managing lupus (SLE) and related autoimmune conditions.

4. Your Account

Lycana uses anonymous authentication. You do not need to provide an email address or password to use the app. Your anonymous account is tied to your device. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and any data stored within the app.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use Lycana for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
  • Interfere with or disrupt the app's functionality or servers
  • Use the AI features to generate harmful, misleading, or abusive content
  • Share or distribute the app outside of authorized channels

6. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of Lycana — including but not limited to the design, code, text, graphics, logos, and AI models — are owned by Lycana and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes.

7. Your Data

You retain ownership of all health data you enter into Lycana. We do not claim any rights to your personal health information. Please see our Privacy Policy for details on how your data is handled.

You may export or delete your data at any time through the app's Settings. Deleting your account permanently removes all associated data.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, LYCANA AND ITS DEVELOPERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Any health outcomes, injuries, or medical complications arising from your use of or reliance on information provided by the app
  • Loss of data, including health records stored within the app
  • Inaccuracies in AI-generated content, flare predictions, or health insights
  • Interruptions in service or app availability
  • Missed medication reminders or scheduling errors

You acknowledge that you use Lycana at your own risk and that the app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.

9. Subscriptions & Pricing

Lycana is currently free to use. We reserve the right to introduce premium features or subscription plans in the future. If we do:

  • Core health tracking features will remain free
  • You will be clearly notified of any paid features before being charged
  • Subscriptions will be managed through Apple's App Store and subject to Apple's subscription terms
  • You can cancel subscriptions at any time through your Apple ID settings

10. Account Termination

You may stop using Lycana at any time by deleting the app. You can also use the "Delete Account" feature in Settings to remove all your data before uninstalling.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the app if we reasonably believe you are violating these Terms or using the app in a manner that could harm other users or our services.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of Lycana after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Lycana shall be resolved in the appropriate courts.
